چکیده
A connected graph is double connected if its complement is also connected The following Ramsey type theorem is proved in this paper There exists a function h n de ned on the set of integers exceeding three such that every double connected graph on at least h n vertices must contain as an induced subgraph a special double connected graph which is either one of the following graphs or the complement of one of the following graphs Pn a path on n vertices K n the graph obtained from K n by subdividing an edge once K nne the graph obtained from K n by deleting an edge K n the graph obtained from K n by adding an edge between the two degree n vertices x and x and a pendent edge at each xi Two applications of this result are also discussed in the paper

Unavoidable minors of large 4 - connected
11 It is known that any 3-connected matroid that is large enough is certain to contain 12 a minor of a given size belonging one of a few special classes of matroids. This 13 paper proves a similar unavoidable minor result for large 4-connected bicircular 14 matroids. The main result follows from establishing the list of unavoidable minors 15 of large 4-biconnected graphs, which are the graphs r...
متن کاملSufficient conditions for maximally edge-connected and super-edge-connected
Let $G$ be a connected graph with minimum degree $delta$ and edge-connectivity $lambda$. A graph ismaximally edge-connected if $lambda=delta$, and it is super-edge-connected if every minimum edge-cut istrivial; that is, if every minimum edge-cut consists of edges incident with a vertex of minimum degree. In this paper, we show that a connected graph or a connected triangle-free graph is maximall...
متن کاملUnavoidable topological minors of infinite graphs
A graph G is loosely-c-connected, or l-c-connected, if there exists a number d depending on G such that the deletion of fewer than c vertices from G leaves precisely one infinite component and a graph containing at most d vertices. In this paper, we give the structure of a set of l-c-connected infinite graphs that form an unavoidable set among the topological minors of l-c-connected infinite gr...
متن کاملUnavoidable Connected Matroids Retaining a Specified Minor
A sufficiently large connected matroid M contains a big circuit or a big cocircuit. Pou-Lin Wu showed that we can ensure that M has a big circuit or a big cocircuit containing any chosen element of M . In this paper, we begin with a fixed connected matroid N and we take M to be a connected matroid that has N as a minor. Our main result establishes that ifM is sufficiently large, then, up to dua...
متن کاملUnavoidable minors of graphs of large type
In this paper, we study one measure of complexity of a graph, namely its type. The type of a graph G is deened to be the minimum number n such that there is a sequence of graphs G = G 0 , G 1 , : : : , G n , where G i is obtained by contracting one edge in or deleting one edge from each block of G i?1 , and where G n is edgeless. We show that a 3-connected graph has large type if and only if it...
